As Built Survey - Reality Capture, Digital Twin, Scan2BIM or Measured Building Survey?

As built surveys can often be described as “Reality Capture”, “Digital Twin”, “Scan2BIM” or “Measured Building Survey“.  With each terms true definition varying depending on who you speak to. Ultimately all the previously mentioned titles are products that can be created from primarily laser scanning data and supplemented with Photogrammetry, GPR and UAV data.

The Leica Geosystems team were at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh on Thursday 14th November 2019 – they had a full range of kit from GPR, Laser Scanners, Mobile Mapping, UAV, GNSS and the new BLK2GO handheld scanning device..

A great bit of kit combining Leica GNSS, Sony digital camera and the DJI uav body. The data from the demo flight looked excellent!

IDS GeoRadar – Opera Duo & Stream C

Utilities and underground 3D mapping equipment.  The real time data on the tablet was very impressive as was the ability to mark it up as you go to help identify pipes and other underground features.

Leica Laser Scanners – P40, RTC360 & BLK

The family of Leica Geosystems laser scanners – all brilliant bits of kit which M3S Surveys Ltd have used extensively over the years.  All have their pros & cons and limits but when each device is used to its strengths the quality of data is brilliant.
